Paper Airplane Contest

Name of Group Game: Paper Airplane Contest

Small Group (3 - 9 people)

Medium Group (10 - 19 people)

Age: Elementary School (2nd grade - 5th grade)

Time: 15 - 20 minutes

Summary: Build, decorate and fly your paper airplane in a contest!

Goal: See whose paper airplane flies the farthest.

- Blank pieces of standard printer paper.

How to Play the Paper Airplane Contest:
1. Hand everyone a piece of paper. Teach everyone how to fold a paper airplane (instructions can be found here). Have them name and decorate their planes.

2. Take everyone to an open area. At the same starting line, have two people fly their airplanes at a time and see whose airplane flies the farthest.

3. After everyone has flown their planes, give each person the opportunity to make a new airplane. They can either create a new plane or keep the one they have. When everyone is done, take them to the open area again- this will be the "contest" round to see whose airplane flies the farthest. The person whose airplane flies the farthest wins the game.

- You can provide tape, paper clips, and other equipment for the kids to experiment how to make their airplanes fly further.
